Today, we finish the series and explore 3 ways to Elevate your Experts —
Leverage — If your experts are always heads down "in the work," they won't have time to nurture other experts. Position experts to do the truly hard work and delegate less specialized tasks to newer associates to build capacity within your firm.
Systems & Training — Structure systems and training to elevate up-and-coming experts. Pass the knowledge to those newer associates and grow the depth of your firm's expertise to fuel growth.
Thought Leadership — Create ways for experts to engage externally - speaking at a conference or on a podcast, writing a blog, or authoring a book. This is an opportunity to build your firm's brand and elevate awareness. It may take time away from short-term revenue generating activities but view it as an investment in the future.
I saw each of these work firsthand in corporate America building a cybersecurity strategy practice across retail, automotive, oil & gas, and cyber product vendors.
The work outpaced what I could physically implement, so I built a team and training blueprint for that team to take increasing leadership roles.
When I left on maternity leave the first time, one team member took the reigns and ran with the automotive project.
When I left on maternity leave the second time, another team member took the reigns and ran with the cybersecurity product vendor project.
Both opportunities gave new experts and leaders opportunities to shine...
And continued to drive growth.
